Funerals

Please feel free to be in direct contact if someone has died (or is likely to soon die). You don’t have to wait for the undertaker to make the contact.

Funerals are important occasions for the bereaved, and also for the community. The parish church is available for anyone for their funeral – be they regular churchgoers or not. Arrangements will always be made to suit the person we are remembering.

Burial in the churchyard is also there for anyone from the parish. That would normally be the case, as well, for any with connections back to the parish, but who have moved away. In other circumstances, it might be appropriate to make specific arrangements in advance.

Memorial stones can be placed on graves in memory of the person. There are guidelines within which permission can be given for specific wording and style. Further details can be obtained from undertakers, stonemasons and the clergy.
